The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) plans to introduce a resolution in the Balochistan Assembly on Thursday, seeking a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. This move follows PTI’s “do-or-die” protest, which was halted early Wednesday morning.

PML-N parliamentary leader Saleem Khosa is expected to present the resolution, accusing PTI of becoming a “political anarchist” group. The resolution, a copy of which is available with Geo News, blames PTI for the violent events of May 9, which erupted after the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan and led to attacks on public properties, including military institutions.

The resolution claims that PTI’s actions have disrupted the country’s systems, affecting the judiciary, media, and economy. It also criticizes the provincial chief executive’s attempts to challenge the central government, labeling them as advancing an anti-state agenda. Additionally, it highlights the KP government’s use of state machinery to attack the Centre as evidence of PTI’s non-political motives.

Khosa urged the federal government to ban PTI following recent violence in Islamabad. Early Wednesday, PTI announced a temporary suspension of its protest after a midnight crackdown by law enforcement, which dispersed PTI workers. The protest was against the “illegal” detention of Imran Khan and other party members, the “stolen mandate” in the February 8 general elections, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

PTI claims that eight of its members were killed in clashes with law enforcement, while government officials report the deaths of three Rangers personnel and two police officers. This protest is part of PTI’s ongoing efforts to secure Khan’s release, who has been imprisoned in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail for over a year on various charges.
