The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a hybrid model for the 2025 and 2024-27 ICC events between India and Pakistan; Pakistan will not tour India for all ICC events.

On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) finally succeeded in breaking the deadlock in the 2025 Champions Trophy, in which a hybrid model was agreed upon, and India’s matches in the 8-team event will be held at a neutral venue.

According to a statement issued by the ICC, if Pakistan accepts a neutral venue for India, Pakistan’s matches with India in ICC events hosted by India will also be held at a neutral venue.

It should be noted that a resolution was mentioned earlier in which a vote was expected by the ICC Board, in which all India’s matches in all events hosted by Pakistan during the 2024 and 2027 ICC events will be played at neutral venues and in return, all matches involving Pakistan in events hosted by India will also be played at neutral venues.

According to the ICC announcement, the agreement will also apply to the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the 2025 Women’s One-Day World Cup in India and the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. In return, the ICC has also awarded Pakistan the hosting of the 2028 World Cup to compensate the Pakistan Cricket Board for the financial loss it has suffered.

According to the website, it may also apply to the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be the first tournament of the upcoming ICC events and will also be held in Pakistan. The tournament’s host board will propose a neutral venue and will require ICC approval.

The ICC has also said that it has no objection to holding a tri-nation T20 tournament involving India, Pakistan and another full member country from Asia (or an associate Asian country has been added), provided that such tournaments are played at a neutral venue. The idea of such a tri-nation series had emerged as compensation for India missing out on hosting matches in the Champions Trophy next year.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was scheduled from February 19 to March 9 but is yet to be announced due to the new situation. A total of 8 teams will be divided into two groups of 4, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals of the ODI tournament. Pakistan will participate in the tournament as the defending champions.
