Producer Shailendra Singh recently announced that he is going to make a sequel of ‘Singh is King’ and will cast Ranveer Singh or Diljit Dosanjh in place of Akshay Kumar. On the one hand, people getting excited about the sequel; on the other hand, they were also getting disappointed with Akshay being replaced.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Singh is King’ (2008) is one of Bollywood’s most iconic comedy films. When this film was released in theatres, Akshay’s character, Happy Singh, was a huge hit. Not only the comedy of the film but also Akshay’s excellent music and romantic chemistry with Katrina Kaif impressed the audience a lot.

Recently, when the news came out that ‘Singh is King 2’ was going to be made, the public’s excitement increased a lot. However, the reports also state that Akshay Kumar is being replaced in the sequel, and Ranveer Singh or Diljit Dosanjh may enter his place. But now it has come to light that Akshay Kumar has already made arrangements that there cannot be any other hero in ‘Singh is King 2’ apart from him or without his consent.

This news spread like wildfire, and while, on the one hand, people started getting excited for the sequel, on the other hand, they were also getting disappointed with Akshay being replaced.

However, according to a Pinkvilla report, it is not possible to cast anyone else in place of Akshay. Sources related to the development have said that Akshay Kumar has 50% IP rights in ‘Singh is King’. The report said, ‘If anyone wants to make it part 2, then he will have to make it with Akshay or take an NOC from him. Akshay and his team are in no mood to give up the rights of ‘Singh is King’. And they will make part 2 only when they have a great script.’

An official from Akshay’s legal team confirmed that Akshay is a 50% shareholder in the rights, title, and everything else of ‘Singh is King’, and without him, a sequel or franchise cannot be made. This official also said that producer Shailendra Singh does not have the right to make a sequel, prequel, or franchise of ‘Singh is King’.

When Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh is Bling’ was released in 2015, people thought that it was the sequel to ‘Singh is King’. However, Akshay had confirmed then that this film by director Prabhu Deva is a completely different project and has no connection with ‘Singh is King’. Interestingly, Akshay Kumar was also the co-producer of ‘Singh is King’.
