Gas Price Hike
Gas Price Hike

As winter sets in, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) approved a gas price hike for the current fiscal year on Tuesday. According to their notification, prices will increase by 8.71% for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) consumers and by 25.78% for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) consumers.

The regulatory authority has submitted this decision to the federal government for final approval. Until the government makes its decision, the current gas prices will remain in effect.

Ogra has proposed setting the average gas price at Rs1,778.35 per MMBTU for Sui Northern and Rs1,762.51 per MMBTU for Sui Southern. This proposal is part of Ogra’s Review of Estimated Revenue Requirement (RERR) for SNGPL and SSGCL for FY 2024-25, as per their decision on December 17, 2024.

The final gas price hike will be determined by the federal government, after which Ogra will issue a formal notification. For now, consumers should prepare for potential changes in their gas bills as temperatures drop further this winter.
